Common Questions

Visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating. Most people report feeling warmly welcomed by the people of Salem. In fact, many describe it as one of the best experiences they have had with a church. We want you to feel welcome so here are the answers to some common questions. If you have any additional questions do not hesitate to contact us.

  • When is worship?

Sunday at 9 AM (modern music) and 11 AM (traditional music). Worship is the primary activity for Christians each week. We gather to praise God, to hear what God says to us through the scriptures of the Old and New Testament, to speak to God through our prayers, and to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion.

  • Is there Sunday school?

Yes! Sunday 10:10 AM for children, youth, and adults; 9 AM for adults (Lectionary Class). Classes meet on the Lower Level.

  • What should I wear?

You are welcome whether you dress up or dress more casually. Some in our congregation dress up more than other days because Sunday, the day Christians gather for worship, is more special than other days. Sunday is a day set apart and some desire to honor God with their best. Still, others dress more casually, knowing that God welcomes us whether or not we have fancy clothes. For Christians, it is always appropriate to dress modestly.

  • Where should I park?

There is one main parking lot right in front of the church building. The best way to enter is the entrance from Coyote just off 33rd Ave by Target. You are welcome to park in any available spot; there is no reserved parking except for the handicap parking spaces near the front door and spaces for visitors across from that. Parking is allowed every day on the east side of Coyote (road between Salem and Target) and additionally on the west side of Coyote on Sundays.

  • Am I expected to give money?

The offering is our response to all that God has done for us. Therefore we do not discourage you from sharing your gift. As a guest, however, we do not expect you to put money in the offering. We do invite you to fill out the Connection Card and place it in the offering. If you consider Salem your church home, we hope you will prayerfully consider your giving as a response to God. Those who become members of Salem promise to uphold the church with their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
